Want a fit and fabulous bod?
Then you have to believe you can get it!
“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it”
I have to admit I’m a Tony Robbins fan, (as you probably know he is one of America’s leading business motivators). Well the penny dropped for me today after listening to one of his on-line videos. You see he was being asked why so many people don’t succeed in business when they constantly buy programs or packages on how to succeed in business! I realized that this is exactly what some women do when it comes to their health and fitness!
They buy packages, they buy fitness books, they buy a gym membership, they join many of the different weight loss companies out there. but still don’t get the results they want, only to say “it didn’t work.”
Well guess what, it didn’t work because they didn’t have the belief that it would, so they unknowingly sabotaged their results from the outset, wasting money, time, energy and worst of all robbing them of their self-esteem.
Comments like… “I’ll give it a try” or “Oh well, I have to do something”, “I don’t know if it will work”, are self-defeating attitudes and tells me that you don’t have the belief in the first place so it is doomed from the beginning.
This may surprise you, but when I get enquiries for on-line training from people who make the comments like, “I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do all of it” or “I just want to see how it goes first”, I actually ask them to come back to me when they are ready to train on-line and believe they will get results. This surprises a lot of people because they assume I would be happy to take their money, but I can bend over backwards to get the results they are wanting, but if they really don’t believe it and are expecting a magic wand, then nothing is going to work, no matter how much motivation, support and expertise they get.
You have to believe you can be that person from the outset. How many times are you going to disappoint yourself?
If you are not in that headspace yet where you are feeling positive and believe that you can get a great bod then try starting here:
From the beginning visualize what you will look like and feel like with your new body.
Ask yourself, “am I aiming too low?”
I want you to dismiss comments like, “Oh well I’ll be happy if I just tone up a bit or if I just lose a few kilos.” Why not aim to have a great body?
You’ve got to want this! Right now I want you to make a list. Write down 5 reasons why you want to get fit/healthy/lose weight, whatever your goal might be. On the right hand side of the page right down a description of what you will look like when you get there. Make it very descriptive. For example…
“I am wearing my tight hipster jeans with my favourite belt that shows off my slim waist and hips. I’m wearing a black stretch, sleeveless top that shows off my lean toned arms. My hair is shiny, my eyes are bright and my skin looks fantastic. I glow with health.”
“I am walking by the pool at the holiday resort we are going to at the end of the year. I am wearing a black bikini with gold trim. I have had a spray tan which shows off my great body shape. I no longer have to suck in my tummy because it is in great shape. My butt is lifted and my legs are toned. I’m feeling proud of my body”
Now, write a list of 5 things that it’s going to take to get you there. Everyone’s list will be different. For example it might look like this:
- Join a gym/hire a personal trainer/support person/coach
- Make a weekly eating plan and shop for fresh healthy food
- Organise my schedule so that exercise and good food choices are a priority
- Chuck out all the junk food in the house
- Read my affirmations/description of what I will feel and look like every day
Once you believe you can be that person, it will happen. Sure, you are going to have to put in the work and there may be times where you lose momentum, but just go back to your list, read it regularly and remind yourself why you are doing it.
Remember you are the only one that can make it happen. All the gym memberships/personal trainers/books and videos won’t get you there unless you believe that you can get there. Sure you need support, you need expert advice, you need direction, but it really is up to you. Will you be that person… or stay the same?
